Mahaakshay Mimoh Chakraborty, son of legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty, made his debut with the 2008 film Jimmy, which was directed by Raj Sippy. He was nominated for Filmfare Award in Best actor Male Debut category for playing a role of a DJ, who is falsely implicated in murder charges. He had a box-office blockbuster with Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted-3d where both the film and Mahaakshay’s performance were appreciated. Since then he has appeared in Loot, Enemmy and currently working on “Ishqedarriyaan”
Mahaakshay is very confident about “Ishqedarriyaan” and recently bollywoodirect got a chance to talk to him where in depth he talked about the film and his character.
Q; From “Jimmy” to “Enemmy”, you have worked in few movies till now and have developed yourself in a much-matured way. How do you see yourself in this process?
I believe every actor grows through time. And I believe the struggles and the perseverance are what truly define a human being. So I thank my struggle and hardships today ’cause without them I wouldn’t be the man I am today.
Q: From the name, “Ishqedarriyaan” seems to have based on romantic plot. What is the “Ishqedarriyaan” movie about?
Yes, ‘Ishqedarriyaan’ is an all and out love story. This is the 1st time in my career that I am doing a pure romantic film and I must say it has been a lovely experience. Ishqedarriyaan is a story of love and what happens to people when they fall in love. In today’s WhatsApp generation we may send our ‘feelings’ through emoticons but true love, the love which makes us better human beings is still the strongest force in the world and in our film, we have focused on showing its simplicity.
Q: What is your character in “Ishqedarriyan”? Please tell us about your role and how you prepare yourself for the character?
My character’s name is Agam Diwan and he is a self-made millionaire. He has come up the hard way and believes that everyone should work hard for what they want. Even though he is one of the richest people in the world, he is very soft spoken and humble and mostly keeps to himself. Circumstances make him meet Luvleen {Evelyn Sharma} and after meeting her, how his life completely changes is what Agam Diwan is all about.
And I always go into full detail when it comes to my Character. Whether it is about the looks, the clothes, the hair, the background of the character or his characteristics. I believe ‘living’ the character is very important throughout the process of the film.
Q: How was the overall experience to work with Veteran director VK Prakash?
VK Prakash sir is a master director! He is truly an actor’s director and I am so happy, lucky and blessed to have had the opportunity to work with him. He makes you grind and grind until he takes the best out of you and during the shoot of the film, I leaped ahead in my performance all thanks to sir. We had impromptu workshops on the sets and instantaneously we had character building exercises also. When you see the film and complement our performances, it will be only because of our brilliant director.
Q: Which actors inspires you most and why?
My dad has always been my superhero. Whatever I am today is because of him. He inspires me every day and encourages me to be good and to do well. I am the man today all because of him. And besides Dad, I truly worship Sunny Deol, Salman Khan and the greek god himself Hrithik Roshan.
Q: Which role or character you would like to play, even if you have to pay for it?
I am a die-hard fan of Superheroes so it is my dream role to play The Punisher one day.
Q: Any thoughts or message you want to convey to the people, who are eagerly waiting for “Ishqedarriyan”?
Ishqedarriyaan is a very simple love story. It is a story which will touch your hearts and make you fall in love with love! It has excellent music and a beautiful storyline. I hope the same way we loved working on the film, that all the people out there give us their love and go watch and enjoy Ishqedarriyaan as well.
