Angry Indian Goddesses is directed by Pan Nalin with Sandhya Mridul, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Sarah-Jane Dias, Anushka Manchanda, Amrit Maghera, Rajshri Deshpande and Pavleen Gujral playing lead roles with Adil Hussain. It was screened in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, where it finished second in the voting for the People’s Choice Award.
Being billed as India’s first all-out female buddy film, it marks Nalin’s debut in mainstream Hindi cinema.
“This film is not at all about male-bashing. There are many men if you see the film, there is a love story and there is an appreciation of women and celebration of womanhood. There can be few girls who can come together and have a good time and if 7-8 of them come together, they’ll obviously talk about issues, You talk to any woman or girl in India and within 10-15 minutes you’ll know about certain issues they’re facing or that they have some angst or they are upset” said Nalin
